Walmart Implements Blockchain in Food Supply Chains
April 25, 2018
The world’s largest wholesale and retail trade net Walmart adopts blockchain technology into food supply chains with the view to reduce inedible product volumes and make the process transparent.
The statement was voiced by the company’s Vice President on Food Safety and Health Frank Yiannas at the conference MIT Technology Review: Business of Blockchain in Cambridge. Yiannas has claimed, adopting blockchain into supply chain allowed for reducing time spent on tracking food products from six days to a couple of seconds. He told that now all Walmart suppliers will use blockchain which eliminates amount of improper goods, increases transparency and facilitates pollution control.
Remember that the American company joined Blockchain consortium earlier founded by IDM that is aimed at improving supply chains management. Note that large car automobile manufacturer Audi also introduced the technology in-house.
