Vitalik Buterin: Sharding is Coming
May 3, 2018
Over the last few years the number of Ethereum transactions has grown rapidly which resulted in transaction fee rise. The concept of sharding implies splitting Ethereum blockchain into small potentially innumerable sections capable of parallel processing thus increasing transaction capacities.
Lately Buterin shared the latest news from the Ethereum’s dev community in his Twitter account:
Buterin announced starting a “Minimal Sharding Protocol” as a new objective for development early this month. The protocol is unlikely to be aimed at full-fledged sharding in Ethereum’s blockchain but is to allow for creating and testing infrastructure using elements from sharding solution.
Although the technology development is still underway, quick rate of updating from Buterin and the dev community is the principal sign for the current scalability problems to be resolved soon.
