Sergey Brin: Google Missed Out to Become Leading Blockchain Company
July 10, 2018
Google co-founder Sergey Brin stated during his speech at Blockchain Summit in Morocco, his company has passed up every chance to leadership in blockchain development:
“We probably already failed to be on the bleeding edge, I'll be honest”.
Meanwhile he noted, the issue of blockchain development is partially on the radar of Google X, the company’s semi-secret research division.
The Google co-founder also confessed, the process of mining sparked his interest in blockchain:
“A year or two ago my son insisted that we needed to get a gaming PC. I told him If we get a gaming PC we have to mine cryptocurrency. So we got an ethereum miner on there and we’ve been making a few pennies and dollars since”.
Remember, in March this year Google banned posting crypto ads at its services, but as some experts suggest, the decision was taken with the view to promote its own blockchain projects in the future.
