UEFA Successfully Tested Blockchain Baes Ticketing App

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) reported on the successful completion of testing of its mobile ticketing application developed with the use of blockchain technology.
In an attempt to make the process of buying tickets to games, the organization tested the application during the 2018 UEFA Super Cup game between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid played on August 15 in Tallinn.
According to a report published on UEFA's official website, the blockchain system helped to ensure the safe distributions of tickets and were able to detect counterfeit tickets. UEFA reported that the system worked with the help of Bluetooth scanners, installed at the entrances of the A. Le Coq Arena in Tallinn.
Earlier, the organization tested the application during the 2017/18 Europa League Final match between Marseille and Atlético Madrid. It was reported, that half of the tickets to the game were distributed through the blockchain system. UEFA claims that since the first experiment a number of improvements and enhansements was introduced, that made the app better.
The organization added that it has plans to further improve the app by applicating it for selling tickets for more football events.
