Producer of Birdman Issuing His Own Cryptocurrency
November 20, 2017
Christopher Woodrow, executive producer of such films as Birdman, American Made and Hacksaw Ridge, announced the issue of his own digital currency, MovieCoin.
The project intends to raise $100 million through its ICO process. The funds will be used to finance film production. Also, the ICO will comply with the standards set by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). It is planned that the tokens would be sold on the secondary market. Woodrow believes that this project will democratize film production.
"We are going to revolutionize financing film production. Now our team is devising a list of projects in which international celebrities, top-level managers, experienced and eminent producers will participate," said Woodrow in an interview with Bloomberg.
It should be noted that this is not the first attempt to unite the cryptoindustry and show business. For example, two years ago, a digital currency, AudioCoin, was created for the music industry. Now the market value of the project is $2.8 million. One should recall that Bjork's last album, in addition to the possibility of payment in Bitcoin, Litecoin and DASH, was also available for purchase via this currency.
