Microsoft Restored Bitcoin Payments

Microsoft has enabled Bitcoin payments in its online store after a short temporary suspension. The original decision was caused by the "unstable" state of the cryptocurrency, sources from tech giant say.

It is reported that the likely reasons for the temporary suspension of accepting Bitcoin payments were the high volatility of the cruptocurrency and increased transaction fees. However, these problems were resolved and now Microsoft is accepting BTC once again.

An unnamed spokeswoman confirmed this information to

"We've restored bitcoin as a payment option in our store after working with our provider to ensure lower bitcoin amounts would be redeemable by customers.

It is noteworthy that one month earlier a popular digital distribution platform Steam ceased accepting Bitcoin due to instability of the cryptocurrency. The decision is still effective, unlike the one by Microsoft.

Microsoft has been accepting Bitcoin as a payment option since 2014. This method of payment is exclusive for U.S.-based customers of the company. They can use it for purchasing digital content from Microsoft online store for their devices on Windows, Windows Phone and Xbox platforms.
