Dogecoin is an open-source digital currency, launched in December 2013. It is based on a Litecoin fork Luckycoin. The cryptocurrency got its name and logo from a popular Internet meme Doge. Dogecoin was developed as a joke currency, but the online-community around the cryptocurrency made it a full-fledged cryptocurrency. Dogecoin utilizes Scrypt algorithm, that makes it hard to mine DOGE with ASIC devices. The block time is 1 minute, and the supply is infinite. Dogecoin has become a popular currency for tipping on the Internet. There are many applications, that allow users to express gratitude with DOGE.
